What About Me?

My Mom & Dad gave me my first cameral when I was about 9 (over 40 years ago).  They loaded a roll of PlusX Pan into my 35mm camera.  It was a Bolsi, all manual and it forced me to learn exposure - "Sunny 16" for those of you old enough.

Before I new it I was standing in a dinky little coat closet, about 3 feet square, in total, total, total, total darkness.  I was completely and utterly frustrated and pissed off while I fumbled around learning how to get the film out of that blasted little 35mm metal canister using a bottle opener.  Once it was out of the canister I had to blindly figure out how to get it wound into the spool of the developer tank.

We always had a darkroom setup.  Before my folks would let me print I would jump up to try and get a glimps of what was developing in the tanks.  By the time I was 13 or 14 I was printing to all hour of the night.  They would frequently have to chase me out . . . "It’s A School Night!"

It wasn’t until 1982 that I had my first exhibition.  It was a on-day event, a one-man show. It’s success spawned several more that year.
